​Sports as an Image of the Christian Life
“Do you not know that the runners in the stadium all run in the race, but only one wins the prize? Run so as to win. Every athlete exercises discipline in every way. They do it to win a perishable crown, but we an imperishable one. Thus I do not run aimlessly; I do not fight as if I were shadowboxing. No, I drive my body and train it, for fear that, after having preached to others, I myself should be disqualified.”

​Some Dos and Don'ts For Parents
Some simple advice for making every CYO sport a pleasing and productive activity for all.

DO Cheer for your team.

DO Show interest, enthusiasm, and support for your child.

DO Be in control of your emotions.
DO Help when asked by coaches or officials.
DO Thank the coaches, officials, and other volunteers who conducted the event.
  
DON'T Leave the spectator area during competitions to enter the field of play.
DON'T Advise the coach on how to coach.
DON'T Try to coach your child during the contest.
DON'T Make derogatory comments to players, parents, coaches, or officials of either team.
DON'T Drink alcohol at contests or come to watch contests intoxicated.
 

​Jubilee of Sports People
Playing sports has become very important today, since it can encourage young people to develop important values such as loyalty, perseverance, friendship, sharing and solidarity.

Precisely for this reason, in recent years it has continued to grow even more as one of the characteristic phenomena of the modern era, almost a "sign of the times" capable of interpreting humanity's new needs and new expectations. Sports have spread to every corner of the world, transcending differences between cultures and nations.
 

Because of the global dimensions this activity has assumed, those involved in sports throughout the world have a great responsibility. They are called to make sports an opportunity for meeting and dialogue, over and above every barrier of language, race or culture. Sports, in fact, can make an effective contribution to peaceful understanding between peoples and to establishing the new civilization of love.
