Social Events
Back to School BBQ
Every September, the SJV families convene in the Parish Activity Center to celebrate the start of another successful school year. The event is free for anyone in the school community. Each family brings a dish or snacks to share, while the school provides the burgers and hot dogs. The BBQ is a fun evening for children and parents to reconnect with friends after a long summer!
Vikings on the Road
A fun, in-school event that takes place every fall is a visit from our Allentown Central Catholic senior representatives during "Vikings on the Road." This assembly for 5th to 8th Grade students is a great way for our students to learn about the academic programs, leadership and extracurricular opportunities and community involvement offered at CCHS. Parents are always welcome to attend.
School Halloween Parade
SJV students participate in celebrating Halloween on the Friday closest to October 31. Classrooms are permitted to have parties, play games and enjoy snacks and treats. Students in Kindergarten to 4th Grade will do a costume parade outside (weather permitting) around the school block. Students in the Annex building are invited to watch along with families and friends.
School Dances
SJV participates in and hosts a number of social events throughout the year. Approximately three school dances are hosted throughout the year that are open to our 7th and 8th Grades students as well as neighboring Catholic schools within the area. One school dance is designated as an 8th Grade fundraiser with proceeds benefitting their NYC field trip.
SJV Skate Night
A few times a year, SJV students are invited to a "Skate Night" at Skateaway in Whitehall. Scheduled on a Wednesday evening, Skateaway offers free admission on "Wacky Wednesdays" with a donation to a local charity at their door. This aligns with SJV's philosophy of outreach and generosity. Watch your PIE for upcoming Skate Nights.
Daddy Daughter Dance
Every spring, the SJV girls put on their most beautiful party dress and take their Dads (or Uncles, Grandfathers, etc.) out for an evening of dinner and dancing in our Parish Activity Center! Parent volunteers transform the PAC into a beautiful ballroom. Each girl receives a photo and a CD of the evening. This is a favorite tradition for girls of all ages!
Mom & Son Bowling Night
A night out for boys and their moms (or stepmom, aunt, grandmother or sister). Two hours of bowling at Parkway Lanes, 1630 S. 12th Street in Allentown, 6-8pm. Includes shoe rental, pizza and beverages.
Bulldogs on the Move
In May, our students are treated to a "field day" at Cedar Beach Park (a comfortable walking distance from campus.) Students of all grade levels enjoy games, relays, activities and lunch in the park (weather permitting.)
St. Francis of Asissi Festival
The fun at SJV does not stop when school lets out in June! Every summer, the St. Francis parish puts on a three-day indoor and outdoor festival complete with games, entertainment, raffles, prizes and best of all, delicious food! SJV's Bulldog Café chef, Mr. Leonard, serves delicacies in the parish hall.
