Academic & Leadership

St. John Vianney Regional School instills and nurtures the desire to serve others as Jesus did. SJV offers in-school programs and extracurricular activities that foster leadership, academic goals and a commitment to faith.

REX RESPECTS! Anti-Bullying Program

Funded by a generous grant from JP Mascaro & Sons, Inc., SJV's unique "REX RESPECTS!" Program implemented assemblies, activities, guest speakers and events that focused on respecting ourselves, respecting others and respecting our environment.

Peer Tutors

Peer Tutoring is a cost-free service provided throughout the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarter of the school year.  Tutors are 7th and 8th grade students, recommended by their teachers, who have accepted the weekly responsibility to assist younger students in their academic endeavors. Parents and teachers of Grade K-4 students may request a tutor. Moderator is Mrs. Linda Borosky. SJV also partners with Allentown Central Catholic to bring their high school students in for one-on-one peer tutoring.

MathCounts

MathCounts provides fun and challenging math programs for U.S. middle school students to increase their academic and professional opportunities while providing our students with a foundation for success in science, technology, engineering and mathematics careers. This national enrichment club and competition program heightens student interest in mathematics by making math achievement challenging and exciting.

CYO Spelling Bee

Students in grades 3 to 8 compete in a classroom, then per grade spelling bee to see who will represent SJV at the Diocesan level. The 3rd to 5th Grade spelling bee is held in the spring while the 6th to 8th Grade spelling bee competes in the fall.

Chess Club

The SJV Chess Club open to Grades 4 through 8. Students of all skill levels are welcome to join. Chess is a great “exercise for the mind” and is a fun way to practice concentration, patience, logic and mental calculations. If you’ve never played chess but are interested in learning how, come see what it is all about. For more information, please contact Mr. Biro.

Safety Patrol

This group of 8th Graders act as crossing guards by helping our younger students cross the street and safely board their buses during arrival and dismissal from school. The Safety Patrol program promotes responsibility, maturity and leadership.

Yearbook Committee

Organized by a dedicated team of parent volunteers, the SJV Yearbook Committee works tirelessly all year to produce an amazing keepsake at the end of the year. 8th Graders are encouraged to become actively involved with the creation of their school yearbook; providing them a sense of ownership and accomplishment in the finished product.
