Coaches & Volunteers
SJV CYO is always looking for volunteers and, actually, our CYO programs would not exist without the help from volunteers. Please consider stepping-up to help - whatever your talents, there is an opportunity:
• Coaches and Assistant Coaches
• Team parents and team helpers
• Snack bar cashiers / attendants
• Fundraising event volunteers
• Event set-up and clean-up volunteers
• Scoreboard / event staff
Can't afford this time/talent contribution??? Our snack bar is always willing to accept your donations ... to stock the snack bar shelves and the refrigerator: bottled water and soda, Gatorade, candy bars, snack bags, napkins, plates, utensils, straws, coffees, hot chocolate, etc.
Coaches & Volunteers
We are all about the kids! Our primary concern at SJV CYO is the safety & welfare of all the children who participate in SJV Sports. So if you are interested in helping, either as an SJV coach and/or as an SJV volunteer, please understand that we will do background checks. We do require that all volunteers and coaches attend the Protecting God’s Children workshop; and require all coaches attend the Coach’s Clinic.
All SJV coaches are required to attend a Diocesan-sponsored Coaches Clinic, which aims to educate all potential coaches and provide them with the basic skills and intangible tools intended to help them become a more effective and successful coach.
If you have attended the CYO Coaches Clinic during this past school year, and would like to be reimbursed for the fee that you paid to attend, we will be able to help. Please provide us with a copy of the certificate of attendance, along with instructions regarding to whom to make the check payable, along with the address that you would like the check to be mailed. Put in an envelope marked CYO Coaches Clinic Reimbursement, and drop off at the rectory. We appreciate that you took the time to attend this event; our kids deserve good coaches.
Protecting God's Children Seminars
All SJV coaches and volunteers are required to attend the “Protecting God’s Children” workshop. “PGC” is a 3-hour workshop that aims to educate about the harms and warning signs of child abuse. For a calendar of upcoming PGC seminars, click here.
